Kajagoogoo
"Too Shy" was Kajagoogoo's debut single. The song shot to number one in the UK in
February, 1983, and was a top five hit in the US not long after.
The group didn't break any new ground musically, pumping out '80s style pop with all
the frivolity they can muster.
They found a following among teenage girls who pinned the guys on their walls and
pushed the "Too Shy" single up the charts, waiting for another release by the new
heartthrobs.
By August of that same year lead singer Limahl was dumped, and the new line-up can't
find a hit.
Limahl has a little better luck on his own, but in no time Kajagoogoo is just a bad
memory with bad hair.
Perhaps they were just trying to be trendy - the Beat, Japan, Fun Boy Three,
the Clash, and even the Who (not '80s, but mod-gods) all broke up or dropped members
that same year.
Their greatest hits album is entitled "Too Shy (and other great hits)"
