Top 10 One Hit Wonders of the 80's

They might have had only one number one hit, only charted once in the US or they might had had smaller hits and one colossal International hit, nonetheless, these are the best of the one hit wonders and the albums their singles came from.

1) Toni Basil
Riding the wave of the newly founded MTV, the simple, yet colourful video for the catchy pop tune, "Mickey," made Toni Basil a household name.

2) USA For Africa
While the individuals making up this band have had throngs of Pop hits, as a group, which was comprised of over 40 artists, this album produced one number one hit single, "We Are The World" in 1985.

3) Tommy Tutone
In 1981, if you were named Jenny, you were certain to have been plagued by this song, "867-5309 / Jenny." It would be Tommy Tutone's only real hit song.

4) M/A/R/R/S
A one single wonder band, M/A/R/R/S was the brainchild of the 4AD record label chief, Ivo Watts-Russell. Their song, "Pump Up The Volume," is a true turning point for Hip Hop evolving it from an underground to mainstream sensation.

5) Jan Hammer
Penning the ever-memorable theme song for the pastel-clad private investigators of prime time, Jan Hammer's theme for the Miami Vice Soundtrack was his segue into the Pop charts.

6) Dexy's Midnight Runners
While Dexy's had several Top Twenty hits in the UK, they charted only once in the U.S. with their international number one hit song, "Come on Eileen" in 1983.

7) Icicle Works
Hitting the US Pop charts in 1984 with the single, "Birds Fly (Whisper to a Scream)", Icicle Works were never able to achieve the same commercial success again.

8) Lipps, Inc.
The roller-disco funk of Lipps, Inc. made their single, "Funkytown" their one and only hit.

9) After the Fire
Blasting onto the Pop charts in 1982 with the funky, New Wave "Der Kommisar," ATF broke up shortly after their commercial success.

10) Double
This Swiss duo hit the Pop charts in 1985 with their song, "Captain of Her Heart," but haven't had the same commercial success since.
